The Mayor announced 200 jobs from Merge, a healthcare IT firm that will also place 100 free health info kiosks around the city over the next 18 months. He announced the arrival of 1000 jobs from GE Financial, 400 jobs from Motorola Solutions, 1200 jobs from Ford Motor Company, 1300 jobs from UAL and 600 jobs from Walgreens. The Mayor joked that he wasn’t counting jobs, but he stated that over 7000 jobs will be arriving in this city that has been hurt by high unemployment. The Mayor stated that “Nothing is more important to Chicago than small business”. He backed that statement up by announcing that Goldman Sachs had started their 10000 Small Business program in Chicago with million in funding.
