A nearly brand-new Mercedes-Benz C300 Sport with only 1100 miles–available for a limited time at D&M Motorsports. Presented by Chris Moran from Automotive Media Group. Only minor changes are in store for the 2009 Mercedes-Benz C-Class. Front seat-mounted pelvic airbags have been added to all models, and the optional hard drive-based navigation system now offers 40GB of storage space as well as Zagat restaurant information. Driver side memory settings with a power steering column and a tilt-down reverse passenger mirror are now standard on the C350 (and optional on other models as part of a package). In addition, Sport sedans get a newly designed instrument cluster. Introduction In the über-competitive market of entry-level luxury performance sedans, the Mercedes-Benz C-Class has become a legitimate contender after years of also-ran status. We weren’t big fans of the previous-generation model, as we found it overpriced considering its lackluster interior, performance and quality. Things changed dramatically last year, however, with a complete redesign that brought about a renewed emphasis on the traits that Mercedes is traditionally known for, as well as an extra dollop of sportiness to compete with its German rivals. Although the car’s dimensions, suspension design and V6 engines largely carried over from the previous generation, the new Mercedes-Benz C-Class gained an improved interior with higher-quality materials, an optional hard-drive-based navigation and multimedia …
An in-depth look at a 2006 Land Rover Range Rover Sport HSE with Chris Moran from AutoMedia. Presented by D&M Motorsports. www.dmautosales.com The Land Rover Range Rover Sport is a premium SUV that represents a shift in focus for this SUV-oriented luxury brand. While traditional Land Rover models have combined unbeatable off-road performance with the amenities of a luxury sedan, the Range Rover Sport represents Land Rover’s first entry into the burgeoning high-performance SUV arena. It is designed to offer sporty road manners and traditional Land Rover luxury without completely sacrificing the go-anywhere abilities of other Land Rover models. Despite its name, the Range Rover Sport is actually a modified and shortened version of the old Land Rover LR3. As such, the Sport is the smallest and most nimble SUV in the company’s lineup. Overall, it is an enjoyable and luxurious vehicle to drive as well as look at. Shoppers seriously interested in getting maximum on-road performance out of an SUV would probably be better served by a few of this Land Rover’s competitors, however, as they are able to deliver better acceleration and handling. Handling performance is a definite step up from other Land Rover models. The Range Rover Sport is the first Land Rover to offer the company’s Dynamic Response suspension system, which is standard on the Supercharged model and optional on the HSE. Land Rover says that this computer-controlled system senses cornering forces and automatically …
BMW 135i Sport Convertible–D&M Motorsports Test Drive and Review Because the BMW 1 Series was all new for last year, not much changes for 2009. A heated steering wheel now comes with the cold-weather package, optional active steering is no longer available on 128i models and the optional navigation system now comes with BMW’s fourth-generation iDrive. Introduction Some said it didn’t make sense. When BMW brought the 1 Series stateside last year, skeptics said there wasn’t really a place in the market for another compact performance two-door. Now into its second year, the BMW 1 Series is proving the pessimists wrong. As the company’s entry-level model, the 1 Series turns heads, even amid much more rare and expensive cars. Although “cute” is often used to describe this coupe and convertible, don’t let the 1 Series’ diminutive dimensions fool you — this car is anything but demure. Under the hood are the same powerful engine choices as in the marque’s more expensive and larger 3 Series. The 1 Series’ compact styling makes it somewhat of a spiritual successor to BMW’s classic 2002 coupe. But unlike the BMW of old, the 128i and the 135i offer modern conveniences that make the driving experience much more luxurious. For example, keyless ignition/entry, a premium stereo, a navigation system and the convertible’s heat-reflective leather seating are welcome technologies in a car that supposedly pays homage to what was a pretty bare-bones performance machine. For the most part …
